Goal 17's New Level 2 Safeguarding Course is Now CPD Certified

At Goal 17, safeguarding is not just a box to tick—it’s at the heart of everything we do. Every day, our volunteers work with children, young people, and adults who may be at risk, and we believe they deserve training that truly prepares them for that responsibility.

That’s why we’re proud to announce that our Level 2 Safeguarding – Children and Adults course is now officially CPD certified.

This is more than a badge of approval. It’s recognition that our course meets high standards for structure, learning value, and delivery. It also marks the end of a long journey—one where we decided to stop relying on off-the-shelf training and instead build something better.

Why We Built It Ourselves

We’ve used third-party safeguarding training in the past, but found that most courses weren’t designed with volunteers in mind. They were often too corporate, too technical, or too disconnected from the real-life situations volunteers encounter.

So, we created our own.

• It’s specifically designed for volunteers—practical, relevant, and grounded in the kinds of scenarios they actually face.

• It’s flexible and accessible, delivered through our interactive online Learning Platform so learners can progress at their own pace, revisit materials anytime, and fit training around their lives.

• And it’s engaging—with video lessons, downloadable resources, real-world case studies, and a final assessment to reinforce learning.

We’re proud that the CPD Certification Service recognised this. As part of the approval process, they wrote:

“The member is to be thanked for their diligence in dealing with the referrals. This submission now meets the standard required for certification.”

• 100% of learners said they now feel more confident in recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns.

• 100% rated the course content as "Excellent" in clarity and relevance.

• 100% said the course either met or exceeded their learning objectives.

• The average score for how likely learners were to recommend the course? 9.8 out of 10.

Offering It to Others – At Cost

While we built this course for our own volunteers, we know many other organisations are trying to meet the same challenge: delivering meaningful safeguarding training that speaks to the volunteer experience.

So we’re making our CPD-certified Level 2 Safeguarding Course available at cost to other organisations who are training volunteers and want something robust, practical, and flexible.
