Assisting ECHO participants to engage in the activities and enable them to learn new skills and develop their confidence.
• Working one to one with a participant during activities
• Working in a small group of participants during activities
• Assisting in making refreshments for the group
• Assisting in making resources and products
• Assisting in tidying/cleaning the individual workshop areas and resources/tools
• Supporting participants to access community spaces and facilities (e.g. trips/visits)
• Provide a positive role model and offering informal social support
• Helping to support participants achieve their personal development goals
• Demonstrating specific skills or techniques in which you are competent
We will never ask you to be involved with:
• Providing first aid
• Manual handling of participants
• Personal hygiene of participants
• Administration of medication.

The following skills would be an added bonus when volunteering at Studio Mirai:
• MIDAS minibus driver
• Makaton, BSL, Speech Therapy
• Gardening skills
• IT skills
• Carpentry / woodworking skills
• Upholstery skills
• Skills in application of paint and decorative finishes
• Competence in use of power tools/machinery
• Knowledge of modern/antique furniture

What will be expected of you?
Volunteers come from all walks of life and with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. At ECHO we concentrate on what people can do rather than dwelling on what they can't do and go from there. Full training is provided before you begin your placement
