Who are Care Leavers?
Aged between 18 and 25 these young people have had a pretty challenging start to life, spending much of it in the care system. They often face unique challenges as they navigate their way through adulthood, such as finding stable housing, accessing education or employment opportunities, and essential life skills. However, they have shown incredible resilience and with a little of your help, they can take bold steps towards building a bright future.
The Mentoring Programme:
We match young care leavers with compassionate and dedicated volunteers like you. As a mentor, you will provide guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear to help them overcome challenges, set goals, and build a brighter future.
What do mentors do?
- Offer emotional support and act as a positive role model
- Provide guidance on education, employment, and life skills
- Assist with goal setting and action planning
- Help young care leavers explore their strengths and interests
- Encourage self-confidence and independence
- Foster a supportive and trusting relationship
