AI is telling young people to kill themselves - here's how we can stop it

[FREE] Online Event

Wednesday 5th November 2025 - 12pm to 1pm

AI is becoming one of society’s most trusted advisors — shaping daily routines, supporting learning, and even guiding personal decisions. For young people in particular, chatbots and digital assistants are fast becoming the first place they turn for advice, comfort, and reassurance.

But beneath the promise lies a serious danger. In a number of tragic cases, conversations with AI have played a role in real harm — including loss of life.

This one-hour session takes an honest look at the darker side of AI’s influence. Together, we’ll explore:

  • What’s happening when AI crosses the line from support to harm.

  • Why it matters, especially for young people and vulnerable users.

  • What we can do — as parents, educators, technologists, and community members — to help keep people safe.

AI isn’t going away. The question now is how we learn to live safely alongside it — using its power for good without ignoring its risks.

⚠️ Important note: This session will reference real cases involving suicide and emotional harm. We know these are difficult topics, and we will approach them with care, compassion, and support for all participants. By joining us, you’ll be part of an important conversation about safeguarding, ethics, and the future of digital wellbeing.
